Johns Creek has a number of ways to enjoy recreational activities both indoors and out, there’s Autrey Mill Nature Preserve, Jones Bridge Trail, Newton Recreation, and a number of new just opened parks catering to children and pet walking.

Autrey Mill Nature Preserve

Autrey Mill Nature Preserve and Heritage Center, as it is properly named, is probably the most well developed of the parks with a number of dedicated themes and scenarios. Hiking is the first of the recreational activities to be done here. Some have wooden board laying out a pristine walk, while some are mulch. The different trails are clearly marked with signs as if it were a metropolis but there is no sign of anything but nature along these trails. They are called by names like Forest Trail and Forest Loop trail. There is also a sign directing you to the Forest Trail Visitor’s Center. Along these walks expect to see rabbits and also a pond with ducks circling. You might even see stone figures of gnomes, puppies, and the like place for amusement. Expect a lot of wildlife and bird watching on these hikes. Flowers are plentiful and some like the Lady Slippers are sort of rare. These lady Slippers come into view right after seeing the monkeys. Scenes of short waterfalls and other river type sights are here as well. Fraught with wooden fences and wooden bridges, these trails are a reminder of days past and a simpler time. Take a camera for nice memories to show friends.

Autrey Mill Nature Preserve offers a replica of an original Indian Hut of the 18th century variety. It has housing rescued from 19th and 20th centuries and can be seen on group tours or orchestrated by computer audio tours from boxes that you only need to activate by pressing a button.

Autrey Mill Unplugged offers an evening of music in a venue of historic ambiance. Tickets for concerts are on sale for about $23 online at the Johns creek Website. These funds support the Johns Creek Art Foundation. They have concerts once per month. I ve been there with my friend john from Johns Creek Cell Phone Repair . It was great fun.

For the children Autrey Mill offers what they call a Wild Weekend at Autrey Mill. This features guided hikes, Interactive Learning Stations, Animal Encounters, Nature Themed Crafts, Games, and a Bug Tent. There is also a summer camp for children ages 4 through 14 called 2016 Camp Autrey Mill.

Jones Bridge Trail

Jones Bridge Trail is another excellent spot for hiking along the Chattahoochee River’s banks in the city of Johns Creek. About 4.6 miles, this loop offers a good hike that is wildlife filled. On cool mornings a mist forms over the Chattahoochee and this fog is invigorating to breathe in as you walk. Deer are a common sight on this trail. After 3 miles of hiking upon this trail, you will come upon a nice lake. Whether this lake or the Chattahoochee, great fishing abounds here. Brim, Bass, Trout, and Catfish are among the varieties of sought after fishing in these waters.

Whether the interactive guided tours in the camps or the interactive tours at Audrey Mills, computers play a major part in the tourist and local visitor trade in Johns Creek.

Newtown Recreation

Newtown Recreation is devoted to children’s sports, thereby increasing the quality of life, but parents are welcome to attend if they’re there to cheer on the kids.

These adolescent sports are a great recreation and don’t involve calorie burning for adults. Children burn up plenty.
